Battlegrounds
There is so much left to conquer
That I just haven't figured out
Like There are holes in my armor
in the shape of my self-doubt
And I have never been so vulnerable,
never quite felt so unclean
just a clueless child
wandering out into the battle scene,
I know I've never been bulletproof
But only now can I not handle it,
Been shot at least a hundred times before,
But I must've forgotten how the pain sits
This is much worse than it was before
How silly could I be,
to walk straight through a war zone and wear my heart on my sleeve?
I never avoided the fires,
I always went straight through them,
But now looking at this exit wound,
I shouldn't have been so foolish
My body's bleeding out now,
My visions foggy, I can't see,
So take this as a lesson my friend,
Learn from me,
Fill those patches in your armor,
Avoid every bullet you can,
You can survive many bullets but it takes just one to kill a man
