Bay to Bridges

It was chilly when I met you-

Chilling, we reconnected

Was my past life

Ever meaningful to you?

My depression was your cause

As yours was to her

That autumn day the foggy clouds

Decided to plunk down to earth

The distance was vaguely hazy

But on this seat, I couldn’t tell

The true clarity of the sun

Above the clouds

And I was lost on that winding road

As you were found, safe and sound

And that boat ride, I’ll cherish

For the rest of my time

Because my eyes had crinkled in honesty

The most it’d had in a while

My vision felt so open

While you shrouded them in shade

Before it was your time

We shared a final goodbye

On that train ride

Where you truly expressed concern for me

Just when I thought we were just friends

You were open

I was closed up

The sunset glow reflected my true feelings for you

Just when I thought I’d had given up-

That was my last memory of you.
