To Be...

The want to be anything but YOU happens to be inevitable

Basic is how you feel, not "pretty enough" is what you are told

And you want to be, but what does it mean "To Be"?

Greater than what you are? In who's eyes but your own?

"We are our biggest critics" they say,

But the same they, in the same breath, have a way they want us to be.

And when do we realize that we are who we should be?

A mirror, although a great tool, is a blind tool.

It shows us who we are, but blinds us because we still want to be.

But who? Who are we not?

The guy who's on Varsity while you're on JV?

The girl who's hair is longer, who's skin is lighter or darker?

But they want to be too...

He wishes he was as smart as that JV player.

She wants her hair shorter, just like yours.

But we wont see.

When do we realize who we are meant to be.

We aspire to be... to be the wrong things.

We aspire to be, but never notice we are

How can one aspire to be beautiful when they already are?
