To Be a Bird
Oh It must be hard to be a bird – to have only a thin shell protecting your growth from the world.
To be so small, to be so frail – delicate and unaware.
Relying for food to always be there, while your eyes are still closed- and your space you must share.
to grow so fast, to be pushed to fly.
Are you ready? Will you survive?
But your wings have grown , your eyes can see, your claws are sharp and your smell is keen.
Your instincts come naturally, almost as if you never were taught.
Your healthy, now strong, not afraid to fly – all because you fought.
Hiding from danger, scavenging for food – sometimes, can occur.
but you learn.
Your feathers are colorful, You soar to great lengths. You weave in and out of trees, find partner, sing beautiful songs –
life really can be as enjoyable as it seems .
oh, it must be hard to be a bird, to be so vulnerable to the world.
The bugs, the trees, flowers and people rely on you for help – for you truly do belong.
Because without you enduring dangers, nature would lose its songs.
Oh, it must be hard to be a bird.
