BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR
Mom, I hate you
I wish you could die
I wish I never had
a mother like you
I mean it
My life would be
interesting without you
I hope God takes you soon"
°
The shut of a door
followed after these cold words
leaving a woman lying on the floor
with a child she was blessed
by her child she was cursed
words left her heart broken
wishing they where left unspoken
°
She thinks to herself
"What did I do to deserve this
why can't my own daughter
understand that God gave us a lot
but delayed wealth.
God, before your eyes
I've always tried
tried to be a good mother
uneducated but not naïve
yes I didn't finish school
but I brought her up
with the best lessons
no qualification, no job
but I made sure that she eats
and get almost everything she needs
her father left before her birth
I raised her with love, alone
but today she hates me
Because I bought her food
With my last money
Which she wanted for her hair"
her sad cry ended her sad thoughts
°
she had no tears to drop anymore
they all went down
no one is there to give her a shoulder
A shoulder to cry on
The floor offered something to lie on
For the day, it became her best friend
It offered a cold shoulder
but she was not put
in a position to choose
Her eyes were wet
Like she just got out of a shower
with no towel to wipe her face
With an African saying
she comforts herself to sleep
°
Thirst wakes her up
she feels weak
tears drained her energy
like a minor who can't walk
she crawls to the cupboard
to get a glass of water
she moves like a tortoise
she's in friction with the floor
but because of her slow movement
she makes no noise
she tries calling the child next-door
but her vocal chords utters no voice
In pursuit of quenching her thirst
she continues to crawl
life leaves her no choice
°
After a few minutes
to what seemed like a race
between her and a 10 minutes
hourglass
she loses the race
she's with 2 minutes late
the lifts her hand to get the glass
she has sight of it
Its a blue coloured cup
she hardly uses it to drink water
but she has no option
she makes endless attempts
before the tip of her index finger
could touch the glass
she's far from reaching it
But she's persistent
Finally, she manages to pull it
near the edge of the cupboard
But it falls before she could hold it
It breaks down in countless piece
Following her heartbreak
It had cooking oil in it
It goes all to waste
and fills the floor
Leaving it slippery
She sees her reflection
She's disappointed
trying to act strong
She tries to move the hand
she used to balance her torso
with
But there's no friction
to hold her hand statically
Her hand slides
and the broken glasses
end up in her wrist
She uses her last energy to scream
but no one hears her
she falls back down
her head facing the ceilings
the veins on her wrist part
like lose guitar strings
blood pours out
like a tap that's fully opened
time dries her blood
flies find a playing ground
heaven summons her name
she smiles in the face of death
She looks happy to depart earth
°
Her child walks in
she furiously opens the door
to show the anger she still holds
but life humbles her
she finds a reaction late
she calls an ambulance
she cries while she tells them
what her emergency is
she falls down in the same tears
her mother dropped
she wonders what happened
the floor saw it all
the tears, the oil and the cold blood
only if it could talk
her cry rises louder
"Shhhh! Don't cry little one"
her Mom said
with a smile on her face
a smile she had
when she was really happy
feeling her soul escaping her body
"This is how it's meant to be
Your wish came true
I love you"
°
her heavy breath stopped
like a truck that was pulling over
her body was as cold
cold as the floor she was lying on
her wrist was still clotting
but she didn't feel any pain
she wasn't thirsty anymore
she forgave her daughter
she wasn't crying anymore
her journey to heaven
has already began
careful what you wish for
