"To be Cinderella"
Cheeks burning red with anxiety, ears stinging with pain, I tried ever so desperately to conceal the excruciating agony that lay in my heart. Courageously holding back my tears, my eyes swelled up, looking as if a thousand bees had stung my pupils.I ran in search of an escape as uncontrollable, boisterous wails sounded from my mouth. I urgently grabbed my keys and started driving away from ‘home.’ After hours, I arrived at my destination of contentment, “Freedom Park.” I jumped wildly over the log as if I was sacrificing my body in exchange for a peaceful soul. Surprisingly, I landed on my feet and automatically felt the cooling sands of the sandbox under my hopeless feet. I gently sat on the swing, afraid that if I sat too hard I could miss my fragile opportunity to escape my dreadful life. With both hands shaking, I held on to the chains, shut my eyes and finally allowed my tears of sorrow to descend from my eyelids. I began by aggressively pushing back and slowly let myself gravitate forward into my dream world. In this imaginary world, I no longer experience pain but I become what I realistically thrive to be in order to be a role model for young girls. To be Cinderella is to be independent. To be Cinderella is to be inquisitive, inspiring and uplifting. To be Cinderella is to be eloquent, elegant and to have experience. To be Cinderella is to carry a smile on your face when chaos breaks loose in your mind and heart. To be Cinderella is to forgive and forget. To be Cinderella is to be tired yet wake up everyday with a burning flame of energy. To be Cinderella is to be weary, yet endlessly try to evoke a sense of happiness. To be Cinderella is to be and to act for the people. In reality, I lack many of these characteristics when I am enslaved by my wicked stepmother and jealous stepsisters; however, my fairy godmother uses this world to guide me to my livelihood as a Queen. In this world of contentment, I imagine myself impatiently awaiting my coronation to Queenship because I yearn to be a Queen to no longer be a victim of pain but to make a difference in how other young girls deal with pain. After my long journey of Queenship, I opened my eyes and they sparked with flames of hope, happiness and honor. As I swang and swang at Freedom Park I escape my sorrows, fears and obstacles and I become a content, influential Queen. I become a true Cinderella.
