be like the city and never stop

I always thought, “Maybe one day…”

Living is better than thinking

Shimmering, sparkling, seducing

The lights refuse rest, even on a Sunday

Don’t get lost in your mind.

Get lost in the streets filled with

Those trying to find themselves

no judgement, no care

we will all just stare

straight ahead

And you can do you

And you can be you

And you will love it

Headphones blasting, horns a’honking

cyclist yells and dinging bells

live music for a penny, cocktails for a twenty

hustling till you drop, not a moment to stop

MetroCard refilling, workers a’whistling

Pockets emptying, hearts filling

Those goddamn sirens, SHHH!

Doing the most to be seen. We are all chasing a dream.

Don’t try to keep up, because you can’t.

Don’t worry about falling behind, because you won’t.

This place is yours. These streets belong to

     you

and

     him

and

     her

and

     them

and

     us.

You are what makes this place great.

You discover the magic.

You set the pace.

TAKE A MOMENT TO LOOK UP

TAKE A MOMENT TO LOOK AROUND

TAKE A MOMENT TO LOOK INSIDE

Pause

Breathe

And you will find that

in New York City

Everything will be alright.
