To Be Free

Why do I write? Is it because my mouth likes to put up a fight, Or that I'm afraid to let my emotions fly, Or maybe it's because it stops my want to die. Maybe it's all of the above Writing is my own personal dove Bringing peace to my soul Helping me escape this hole This hole of confusion, fear, and loneliness Hopefully it takes away my selfishness Writing is my freedom, my escape A way to speak with my mouth taped The tape that I put there To save me from my fear My fear of people, talking, and rejection Look up my name and writing takes up a whole section When I write, I can be me Not what other people see I don't have to put on a show I let my mind wander, my words flow I write because I know it won't judge me It lets me be free I'm not the girl no one notices That girl is bogus I'm the girl with power Who can save her life from going sour Who can make a change But to most I'm seen as strange Writing makes me happy Someday I hope to show the real me In words and actions No matter what happens Why do I write? Is it to put up a fight, Or to runaway, Or maybe to express the words I'm dying to say Yes and no The reason is not hard to show It's just sometimes hard to see I write to be free.
