To Be Free

How can I live without freedom?

I need the freedom to try

And I need the freedom to fail

I must have the freedom to fly

As well as the freedom to fall

I thrive on the ability to push and pull

Push the limits

Pull against whatever may be holding me back

And feel the consequences of my actions

Without freedom, we are devoid of choice

We lose the ability to make our own decisions

And to see what may happen because of what we choose

Without freedom, we cannot think or feel for ourselves

We lose our opinions

We never know what it means to be angry

Or to argue

We know no sadness

But we also cannot love

Or feel the deep caring we have for those closest to us

Without freedom, being human has no meaning

Without success and failure

Without choice

Without opinions

Without feelings

We become nothing more than empty shells

Without freedom, what is life?
