To Be Free
My soul, now revived.
My spirit, rejuvenated.
I could now reach for the sky,
Without having to cry.
The pain, now gone;
The lesson, learned.
Oh, how happy I am that my cries have been heard,
Maybe, not from everyone
But from those who truly matter to me;
The ones who were always there, no matter what the circumstances may be.
Oh, how happy I am to have a smile back on my face,
To know that every moment was worth taking place.
Oh, how happy I am to have faced the thorns from the rose.
They might not all be gone,
But all the bad always goes and
My love is what grows.
Oh, how happy I am to have taken my first few steps again,
To maybe stumble and fall along the way, but it all had to occur for it all to begin.
Oh, how happy I am to be me.
To be whomever I want to be
And to be free.
