To be a girl

To be a girl means to be “weak",
It means to be of less importance than a man,
To be below someone who is deemed
to be stronger than you,
To be a girl means to be feminine,
The opposite of manly in every way,
And just that,
To be a girl means to be born without that part that hangs
gently below your “neither regions”,
which supposably identifies the body of a person
To be a girl,
Or a boy,
Well I guess I’m not a girl then,
Only because I have never before identified myself as “weak”,
Physically maybe compared to others but emotionally NEVER,
Because I am not afraid to show my emotions,
I was never afraid to speak my mind and go against the opinion of another
that contradicts my own,
I was never afraid to stand up for the rights
that I believed that not only I
but everyone had,
To be a girl,
To me,
Means to be yourself and no matter what
always stand up against all odds,
And if to be a girl means to be judged based on the parts of my body,
Or the ignorance brought about by years of oppression due to the
mere fact that one can not believe that,
Maybe we are all equal,
Maybe we can all be weak at times,
Maybe we should all be willful and change,
God forbid that we all be the same,
Maybe to be a girl can mean to be strong too,
Because to be a girl can mean so much,
when you're the one it’s being addressed to
