To Be Heard

To be heard, is the cry of every heart

To be heard, is desired from the very start

From a child's first cry, to final death

We long to put our souls to rest

To find peace in someone who has heard

By then, they have learned

The diction, body language and needs

Of the inner mans life decrees

When it comes down to it,

The greatest thing in life's path,

After all of the pain and grit,

Is to be heard, and fill the gap

Of uncertainty and oblivion

Because in that moment

You mean something to them
