To Be HEARD!
I try to take in the positive
At times I find myself questioning
Whether this is my calling
Is this what I'm meant to do?
Is this my inner passion?
I can accomplish beyond my wildest dreams
And give back to those who saw something
That I never saw in me
But will that be enough?
I go down this road of chemistry
Wondering if it will guide me
To all the things that are more promising
To travel the world, and see things outside my reach
Would be a blessing after all the stressing I've done
So that nothing can jeopardize the opportunities to come
But will that be enough?
Who am I meant to be?
I look at myself as a provider
Self driven and working to inspire
I’m willing to absorb information
Just to create any type of conversation
Whether it is “dumb downed” or “proper”
In the end I shall prosper
And get rid of all the others
Who have little positivity to offer
But will that be enough?
I will not suffer from negativity
We are either something or nothing
So it can be hard to make friends you see?
Being you’re number one fan and critic
Being on your own or the “doing me” status
Listening and observing
Watching other people’s actions
Hoping that I don’t change
Due to the world around me
And if I do
who’s going to stop and remind me?
Will that be enough?
It’s in my blood to be a hard worker
To give more than what is asked for
I believe in karma whether it is good or bad
But I hope that more good appears
Because every time I get my hopes up
Every time I talk less, and listen with my ears
Every time I plan ahead, and speak without fear
The things out of my control come near
And although I try to stay clear and level headed
Will that be enough?
Simple situations turn into lessons and still
I have to learn how to control my emotions
I have to learn how to control feelings
I have to learn how to see past certain things
And focus in on my destination
If it’s finances, basketball related, or a social life
I end up a little more disappointed
But my academics have always been up to par
I sacrifice three things in order to succeed in one
But will that be enough?
My grades don’t pay the bills, in fact I pay them
They say in the long run they represent importance
They are significant in how your future may begin
Whether you’re career is something you have passion in
Or whether you spend a couple years struggling
And even if all my profit can cover me,
Even if all my goals become successes
Even if I accomplish things you couldn’t imagine
Will that be enough?
Will I be thankful? Will I be happy?
Will I settle? Will I want more?
Will I question, “is that it?”
Will there be a compromise between
All that I want and all that I need
Will it be fulfilling?
Or should I be doing something else?
I guess we’ll see and find out.
