To Be Heard

What a simple thing to ask

When I'm screaming

crying

dying inside

to be heard

When the world crumbles all around me

When the floor drops from beneath my feet

When reminiscing on the people I knew

and thinking of the people I'll meet

to be heard

When I'm begging you for forgiveness after I've done wrong

When I'm begging for someone to empathize with me

When I'm begging for love

to be heard

I can function with no one around

with no one at my side

But I can't live like this much longer

having to carry the conversation

having to forefeit my happiness for your enjoyment

when all I ask

is to be heard
