To Be Human

Am I more than just a breath

escaping from a pair of lungs?

More than just a beat

drumming in a chest?

More than just the lakes

residing in my veins?

Yes, I am more.

I am love and sweat

soul and hands

words and tears

memories and dreams

regrets and disappointments

sunlight and hope.

I am more.

I am confident in myself,

in the parts of me that are accepted

and the parts that are not.

I am purely me.
