Be Kind to Me ( A Letter to myself)
Be Kind to Me
(A Letter to myself)
By: Yasmine Nana-Yeboah
All my life I’ve felt like an orphan
No one wants you
And they treat you like there is nothing you can do
I love to smile I honestly do
But, how would you feel if no one wanted you
They treat you unkind, but smile sometimes
Their fake and they do it on purpose
I am not mad it is more like sad
I don’t know what to do, and sometimes that’s alright
I want to feel like I do in my mind
At least their my body feels kind
If it was you you’d be disappointed
But, it’s me so it must not be important
Some people are just unkind and it’s true
And if you knew what I’ve been through
Let’s just say your view would be this way too
We’re a jealous, kind, people
The fearful mind steps on all kinds of people
Afraid to show ourselves to the world
Because like I said the world’s not kind
Where are my people
Some kind of people
I call you love ones but, you do so much evil
Don’t be mad
But, are we fake
Do some stick around just to see what else you’ll make
I wish someone ran to me like they did you
Showed me love every time I’d come too
But, they don’t I mind, but somewhere in my heart I hope that I will find
A nice thing
Strong and kind thing
One that I can get along with
Who loves me with all its soul and mind
It doesn’t have to die for me, but I’ll do for it
But, if it did
Wow, I’d think it was kind or maybe blind
Why would it treat me kind, but everyone else never gave me time
I wonder if I speak do I blow its mind
Does my presence bless it with long, but soulful rhythms
If it sees me smile will it take him miles
Will he stay or call me throughout the day
Will he love me or know just how to hug me
When will it hurt me
Will its words sting or burn me
Will it be kind because he knows so many people have hurt me
Unknowingly painful and cold
It scares me to know all what this world beholds
But please be kind to me and if you love me it won’t take much just hug me with comfort as I lay in my dreams
If I saw myself I’d tell myself be calm and hold on cause at the end it all works out
