To be in love

To be young and in love,

To be innocent, to fly free,

To be the king of the world,

That is what happiness is.

To be old and in love,

to be calm, to smile in memory

to be the wisdom the world needs,

that is what happiness is.

To be rebellious and in love,

To be fierce, to feel passion,

To be in synchrony with another’s boldness,

that is what happiness is.

To be queer and in love,

To be confused, to sense disgust,

To be pressured into silence for loving two genders,

I’m not sure that is happiness.
