To be marooned

If I was marooned on a stranded isle;

my fate to be alone;

I wouldn’t bring my toothbrush;

I wouldn’t bring my phone.

I wouldn’t bring a hat with me;

I wouldn’t bring my favorite snack.

I wouldn’t bring my family.

I wouldn’t bring a backpack.

I wouldn’t bring a good book or two;

I wouldn’t pass time trying to knit.

I’d bring a pen: red, black or blue;

I’d never leave home without it.

“What a silly idea”, you reply,

“to only take a pen.”

But how would I write my bottled note,

to say “hope I see you again”?
