Be Nice

Another big, red, circled F at the top of the paper,

The highest grade written on the board,

"This should be easy," they say without thinking.

I was dangling over the edge; that just cut my cord.

As if I don't get enough of it at home,

"you're worthless, going nowhere."

Condescending tones add to the pain,

Just a teacher mocking my helpless, vacant stare.

I'm trying to be positive,

I'm thinking happy thoughts.

But a simple "Nice try! You rock!" or "Talk to me anytime"

would really help a lot.

Be kind to everyone.

You don't know how much it helps.
