To Be Okay

Love is wrapped up in all the little things.

"Have you eaten yet?"

"Wear your seatbelt."

"Are you okay?"

Love is wrapped up in all the big things.

"You look beautiful."

"I'm here if you want to talk."

"You're one of my favorite people."

Love doesn't demand.

Love doesn't hurt.

Love is work, but it's the work you want to do.

Because I love you, I want to walk with you

Through everything

And figure out everything with you by my side.

I want to be the fluttering of your heart

And the kisses on your cheeks

Not the bruises on your arms

Or the fear on your face.

I want to be the tingling on your skin

And the brightness in your eyes

Not the guilt trips in my words

Or the threats in my movements.

Because I love you, I want to be sure

That you're gonna be okay

Because that's what I signed up

To do

And that's what you

Deserve.
