Be Pompeii

I woke up sweating bricks again

It all came down heavy

Breaking through thick skin

Bleeding out

I sob

C’mon

Pick yourself up and wash it off

Don’t just sit there and watch all of your hard work go down that drain

Just think of Pompeii...

Such a beautiful place

Until one day

The fire came raining down

Sweeping it all away

And yet

It’s beauty still remains

In fact

Be Pompeii...

Kill what once lived inside

Making way and welcoming new life

And yes

The artifacts may be fragile

But, trust that it’ll be alright

Trust...

Trust that the people who come and visit

Will only look, and not play with what you have to place on display

Trust...

Trust that they will find admiration

For the wonder that came from such tragedy

And though another eruption awaits...

Just trust that in time

you will rise from the ashes..

And yes

The beauty will still remain...
