Be There

If I could, what would I change?

A world full of sickness, dying and pain?

I hear people’s stories and they break my heart,

People are cruel and the world seems to be falling apart.

How do I live every single day,

Knowing there’s hundreds of things that could be changed?

How can I say, “my life is hard”,

When people’s wounds are so much deeper than my scars?

There are kids, who don’t know what it’s like to have a home,

They’re beaten, bruised, broken and alone.

If I could, I would show every one,

That there is someone who cares; their life has only just begun.

How do we expect kids to go out and start living,

Who only seemed to be defined by their misgivings?

There are millions of kids without a place to go,

And millions of people who are just saying no.

If I could change one thing, I’d give all I could,

To these kids who are so terribly misunderstood.

Orphans need homes. Many people don’t care.

If I could change one thing, I’d want everyone to be there.
