Be There

Lately, I’ve been wanting you to be happy

Love me as your father

I don’t know which I want more

But I know I want it

If happy means leaving, I’ll go

If happy means staying, I’ll give you everything I’ve got

Just to see you smile

I don’t know how to live without you

But I know how to love you

Screams of pain and empty bottles

Fill my house and thoughts

I don’t worry about hurting you

I love you too much

November, my baby girl

Please love me

Let me be there for you

It’s been five years

But let me make up for it

You’re full grown

Been through so much

Lived through the worst

I was gone and didn’t know how to be there

Let me be there

You don’t know any of this

You’ve never heard an “I love you”

Even from your mother

Let me be the first to tell you...

I love you
