To Be A Unicorn

The obvious

isn't always so obvious

just like common sense

isn't so common

The pain

is often more painful

while the happiness

is dulled

and muted

And yet

the unicorn stands there

Bright and Beautiful

a light beckoning in the darkness

but continually shrouded in mystery

Forced to turn

away from the light

and always wanting to return

To run on streets of gold

a dream

of peace and happiness

Forced into the pit

of misery and despair

Wanting to break out

To be a unicorn-

wild and

free
