To But Be A Wall

It is raining outside
Each day and each night, without end
It floods the world, drowning us all
It pours, as the dark clouds slowly cover the earth, blotting out the sun, and leaving only black clouds
The thunder rumbles, shaking the earth
The lighting strikes, coming closer and closer, the only light in the blackness
Each drop of water is a tear, the rumble the cries of those around
The lightning is the path of the rocks thrown, that strike the ground and set the world ablaze
Each strike causing tears to flow, as the sky itself weeps, and the earth cries out in dismay
The souls of humanity fly through the sky
Flying higher and higher, to escape the storm, and see again the warmth of the sun
Each strike of lightning forces them to crash, closer and closer to the ground
Until finally they hit the earth
To protect themselves from the pain they turn to stone
They look up at those still flying, enraged by it
Their own heart has been turned to stone, never again can they fly
So they punish the world
They break each other to pieces
And throw the stones at those in the sky
And thus the lightning is created, rising up from the earth
With each strike, the souls above cry out, creating the thunder that shakes the earth
The wounds on their flesh burn, turning the sky black
And the sky itself weeps for them, as they cry, flooding the earth
And still more stones are thrown, and with each stone, another falls
Every time I look out, this is what I see
Having been turned to stone long ago, I long to fly once more
I envy those in the air
They are those who choose to love the world around them
They are those who can still see the wonder in the air
When they are born, they are sheltered by the bodies if those who are stone
As they grow they begin to fly
Until the world begins to shoot them down
Envious of their ability to fly
Enjoying the site of every fall
Tricking them, hurting them, causing pain simply because they are week enough to harm
Knowing that they will never fight back
Until finally, those young souls crash
This is the nature of humanity, fighting each other until all crashes to the ground
My dream, each time I close my eyes, is of another world
My dream is to have the strength to stop the stones from flying
To be able to protect those who still fly
To be able to shield them from the stones that are thrown
I am stone, I will never fly again, yet every time one falls, I weep
And so, I dream of allowing them to reach the sun again
So they might grow strong enough to pull the ones around them through the clouds
To that place where the sun always shines
So one day, the men of stone will crumble, and the light will shine to earth again
So the sky never again weeps
So the earth no longer needs to cry out
So that these souls can be the angles of the sun, instead of the demons of stone
That each of us has slowly been becoming
Even though I will never see the sun again
My dream is to allow it to shine one day
To fight the men of stone, so they may see the light
Because if just one may reach the sun, then it would have been worth it
To fight so that one day the world may change
To do what those in the sky cannot
And protect them
My dream, is not to be known, nor to be rich
But to be what we see each day and never pay attention to
What we never feel the need to thank
Yet it is always there for us, protecting us from the cold outside
My dream, is to but be a wall, and pray, one day, others choose, to dream with me
