To be a Woman
It’s not hard to believe. Time passes by.
To conform is expected. It’s all that they know.
But there’s no way I can stop it.
I Fight the world to let go.
Society and its rules. The way it looks at us.
Marry a workaholic man. Extend the family tree.
But there’s no way I can stop it.
I Fight the world to just be me.
Ah what a liberalist nation. For everyone but us.
Your culture dictates. Says Cook and clean everyday.
But there’s no way I can stop it.
I Fight the world to break away.
Time passes by. Single, youthful and beautiful.
No one likes it. They ask “When will you wear that white gown?”
But there’s no way I can stop it.
I Fight the world to stand my ground.
Unhappy marriages and divorce. Broken families all around.
“Just follow the trend. No one cares you’re a clone”
But there’s no way I can stop it.
I Fight the world on my own.
A woman with an education. A woman CEO.
That used to be unheard of. And some wish it still was.
But there’s no way I can stop it.
I Fight the world just because.
Times are changing now. Society has advanced in more ways than one.
That fight can be felt. Have we finally won the war?
But there’s no way I can stop it.
I Fight the world to be sure.
I am a woman. I keep my dignity. I demand your respect.
The Hispanic blood that flows through me, I fight to protect.
I learn, and I grow. And I will make it show.
Soon you will see and soon you will hear. The voice of women, words uniting.
There’s no way that you can stop it.
We Fight the world. And won’t stop fighting.
