The Beast

Before the last petal fell, and his damnable fate was sealed, The beast had to marry Belle, With her love for him unreal, But What if this Happy ever after was poisoned with a twist? How could a prisoner come to love With shackles on her wrist. Belle gave up her freedom to take her father's place in hell, And the beast who held her there Thought she would break the spell. She would fall in love with him, His darling little pet, And they would live forever And all would soon forget. They'd forget that he held her there Trapped against her will, Plotholes aside, and all alike, a man doesn't fit the bill. Belle didn't want a husband, She said that from verse one. She was a woman of her mind, The beast - no better than Gaston. She had to teach him how to read, Which is unattractive in itself, Let alone that all his companions Slept soundly upon a shelf. So what if he didn't win her over? And belle didn't save the day? The Beast would have died there on the balcony, And she went on her merry way.
