The Beast Of A Boy

He says he’s never met a girl smarter or wiser than her
What he doesn’t know is that she reads every night to drift away from her parents fights
He says he loves her I don’t give a fuck attitude and the way she always speaks her mind
What he doesn’t know is all those years of being a victim of bullying made her overly defensive
He says that her eyes are like stars, big and beautiful impossible to miss
What he doesn’t know is she can’t remember the last time she didn’t need to get high just to get by
He says that her smile can illuminate a pitch black room
What he doesn’t know is that he’s never seen her real smile because it would light up the entire city
He says that he loves every single pore on her perfect body
What he doesn’t know is that she can’t recall the last time she had a full meal
He says that her hands seem to fit perfectly in his
What he doesn’t know is that she discovered that her face fits perfectly into her hands when she cries herself to sleep
While laying beside her one day he says that if she didn’t have such tough skin he probably wouldn’t be so in love with her
She turns to him with teary eyes and says shes not tough at all shes a weak mess and so tired of pretending to be strong for him
He hugs her and asks her why she’s weak, she talks about her parents, her drug problem, eating disorder and insecurity issues from the bullying
Then for the first time he sees her he sees the little chubby brace face girl he used to push around with all his friends. He kisses her forehead and walks out he shallows hard because now he knows
