Beat

It is loud. I find it hard to move and sometimes it's hard to breathe. Claustrophobia, and a fear of the unknown. I'm just ten feet from the target now, and he stops me. I whisper the news in his ear and he smiles. He bends down to match my height and brushes my shoulder, telling me that it's alright. I feel the beat in my heart, stronger now than ever. I don't want to say goodbye, but she waits. She waits to test me, and the beat doesn't stop. High school is more fun when you have a crush.
