Beat the Odds

They say like mother like daughter

This saying took time for me to agree

Until I saw this innocent young baby, Marjorie

With dimple and deep smiles

I then confirmed and agreed that

A daughter takes after their mothers

Marjorie, grow to be strong like your mother

Who was able to stand the odds one after another

Until you came to this world to be a victor

Marjorie, grow to be a loving lady

Who will value the ways of the Lord

And find your purpose for your birth

And why you came to this earth

Marjorie, the greatness lies within your heart

With your hands do your best

And with your mouth shout your praise

And become a woman of virtue like your mother

Marjorie, you are a darling of the heavenly father

You are the darling daughter of your mother

Beat the odds until you become old

You are an answer to someone’s prayer

(Composed by Rafiki Karisa for Marjorie)
