Beaten Up, Broken Down
"I'd rather be beaten up than broken down"
She said in the corner crying with a frown
She miserably experienced both
So she made the solid oath
"Seek happiness"
Those 2 words muttered past tears of sadness
When did it start
The breaking of her heart?
Maybe the beatings from her father that didn't end
Maybe the verbal abuse from her first, one, and only boyfriend
The back and forth
The ups and downs
The highs and lows
She used to wish that time just froze
Froze in the good times
Without all the "sometimes"
SOMETIMES he loves her
SOMETIMES he's sweet to her
SOMETIMES he hurts her for no reason
SOMETIMES he cheats
ALWAYS she loves him
ALWAYS she's kind to him
ALWAYS she accepts the hurt from him
ALWAYS she is faithful and accepts that he cheats on her
It became a routine for her to be brokenhearted once a week
She stuck with him no matter how bleak
She thought he was just so unique
Although he always continued his hurting streak
No matter what he did
She obtained habits that she surely hid
The underaged girl with a bottle
It was just plain awful
A tipsy crybaby with a blade
She was always afraid
But everyone else is too
When she realized this she knew
She would find happiness by seeing the world anew
"I'd rather not be beaten up or broken down"
She said looking at her newfound happiness in the mirror with an upside down frown
