Beating

THUMP, THUMP, THUMP...

My heart beats too slow,

I use it to count the time, too much time.

Each beat seems seems hours appart,

but really it is less than a second.

Each pulse surges through me,

making me shake.

I hear my impatient heart,

a never ending drum in my ears.

I must keep counting,

counting each beat.

How many more until I see you again?
