Beautiful

Beautiful

Beautiful

A word that I would have never used to describe myself, before you came along

A word I reserved for everyone but myself , as it is much easier to find beauty in everyone but oneself

But now it is all I can refer to myself as

I remember wanting to look like everyone but me

The girl all the boys liked

The girl with the long hair

The popular girl everyone wanted to be friends with

But I just was not her

With the evolution of social media  I wanted to be the girl on instagram with thousands of likes and comments

It does not mean much ,but I thought if everyone on instagram thought I was beautiful then it was my reality

Then one day life led me to you

You showed me that beauty is not only found in the exterior form

It’s the way one carries themself

The way  that one’s presence demands attention in a room full of people

It’s found in every impalpable feature

It’s one’s drive

One’s determination

One’s strength

One’s weakness

One’s caring heart

One’s intelligence

One’s talent

And it’s everything you love about me

In you loving me you led me to myself

My authentic self and I too fell in love with myself

Every non physical feature I possess

I fell in love with not just my potential but everything I am in the present

So when I crawl out of bed and my face is puffy and there's crust in my eyes

Or my body is drenched in sweat after a vigorous  workout

I am able to still look in the mirror and say that I am beautiful

As beauty is found in who I am and that radiates to my exterior
