Beautiful Boy

Hung up

On these old lies

Hung up

On these old ties

Hung up

On you

If only you knew

What I'd do

What I'd say

To get you back

My baby doll

Walked a thousand miles

Ran a hundred more

Wound right back

At your front door

What more

Do you want from me

Don't let me in

I won't be around

Too long

Don't let me in

I'll come on

Too strong

Like always

And then I'll drift away

Like a dream

A bad dream

You can't even recall

Falling asleep

The kind

That keeps you awake

The kind

That makes you ache

And shake

All night long

But baby tell me

Why this heart beats strong

For you

Even now

You

You were the best damn thing

That ever happened to me

I walked away with that ring

Wrapped around my neck

Around my heart

With you

Begging and pleading

With me

Stay awhile

Stay for the night

You cried

You had never lied

All you ever did

Was try

And all I ever did

Was leave skid marks

All over you

And your heart

But here we are

And so far

I've never felt so good

So take me back

Take me on

I'm listening now

I'm here

For you and only you

You got me

You never lost me

Always had me

If you want this bruised body

And this empty heart

Full of love

Take it

Take it back

Make something of it

It never beat for anyone

But you

Beautiful boy
