Beautiful Broken Things

We're both made of broken things.

He is bits and pieces of wasted hopes and failing spirits,

While I am composed of shards of shattered hearts.

Neither of us are complete.

We are fragments of the people we were meant to be,

But can never become.

We have both gone off our destined paths,

But I fear he has gone further astray.

We are both searching for who we were supposed to be,

But those are the people we can never find.

We're lost in a world of our own demise,

Trying to find our way out of an endless maze,

Meeting dead end after dead end.

But for some reason,

While looking for ourselves, we stumbled upon one another.

We're both broken things,

Thought to be worthless or useless.

But we are able to see the good in each other,

Which is something others fail to do.

Beauty can be found in broken things,

If someone cares enough to look.
