The Beautiful Duckling

Bright in the blue sky is the most beautiful bird
The kind of a bird that isn't named by a word
But sings a song the world never had heard
It's brilliant yellow feathers breathe in the wind
It's magnificent wings never to be twinned
And it's beautiful beak constantly grinned
Flying high in the sky without a worry one day
It saw a flock of bluebirds not far away
And went over for a hello to say
The bluebirds spun and they flapped
Their positive strength never was sapped
For all day long they rested and napped
Now as our sun of the sky stared at the flock of friends
A thought occurred that she was alone to no end
For she had no siblings for help to lend
And as she stared at the vibrant blue feather
Her desire to be blue festered in the weather
Her desire to be blue aged her more than leather
And so gloomy on one cloudy day
She noticed that no birds flew in the sky today
She looked around but couldn't see one bird to play
Curious as she dove to the trees below
She asked her friends why they stayed so low
And they stared when they realized what she didn't know
"The sun is sad and gone from the sky
The clouds are dark as they race by
And the wind is chilled as it blows us back
So we come down to avoid the black
We miss the sun always out and bright
Beautiful and yellow in its own right
We miss the sun in the way it always grinned
And nothing compares to it's song in the wind
But since the sun turned blue
We've been thus sad too"
The yellow bird stared in turn
At her friends who for her happiness yearn
She saw in their eyes what she had yet to learn
Yellow was her color, and yellow was her song
The color of joy and the color of all song
That she wasn't blue just like she wasn't long
For a blue sun would never shine
Any who thought that were out of their mind
And so she decided to fly her own line
