The Beautiful Fire

There was a time when Jordan felt safe

A time where things felt peaceful and quiet

But he cannot feel that way anymore

Jordan does not feel much right now

He does not feel fear after washing the blood off his face

He does not even feel guilt or sadness

But he does feel anger, his fist even clenches to draw blood

How dare someone hurt his family

Jordan had to go check on his little brother and sister

Make sure they did not have any scars from the bad man

Little children do not deserve scars from cruel men

Luckily his siblings were fine physically

Although they could not stop crying

Because the memory of the bad man was there

The bad men trying to beat them and stab them

Jordan tried to stop their tears, but they could not stop

Only their mother’s nurturing hands would help

Even though she was bleeding herself from the bad man’s knife

He goes to light the fire to burn the bad dead man’s body outside

Making sure no one saw him, but Jordan could not help but stare

Stare at the vivid colors of the flame and the bright light

The flames that were eating away the bad man

The bad man that Jordan had stabbed only as a young teen

Jordan feels nothing, but gets the memory of calling the bad man ‘dad’

And suddenly a tear rolled down his tormented eyes

There was a time when Jordan did not get scared to feel
