Beautiful To Me

When people think of beauty, they think of

Beautiful girls,

Perfectly arranged flowers,

A golden, summer sunset.

However, you were different.

As a guy, you were supposed to be

Handsome,

Strong,

Powerful.

As hard as I tried,

I could never see you that way.

To me, you were beautiful.

Not the typical beauty,

But beautiful like how waves crash

Against the shore,

Like a storm gathering in the distance,

Like the perfect timing of events,

Enabling me to have known you for four years.

I found you beautiful to me.

The way your athletic body felt beneath my fingertips.

The beautiful way that your broad shoulders narrowed to your hips,

The way our fingers fit perfectly together.

I found it beautiful

How we talked for hours,

And laughed for days.

The way your smile lit up your face,

And the way you used to look at me,

Were so beautiful that it took my breath away.

No, you were not handsome

Or strong,

Or powerful.

But you were beautiful like how waves crash

Against the shore,

Like storms gathering in the distance,

Like the perfect timing of events,

That only happen a few times in a lifetime.

To me, you were beautiful.
