Beautiful Pain

Why does it hurt after smiling so long, But it never hurts to frown? And when the laughter won’t die down, It’s your stomach that feels the pain? With you those are the pains I get to feel, Pain from my smiling and laughter. Why do all of those ideals Never get taken after? Everyone seems to search and search, Some never even find that someone And that’s the trigger to the gun. The gun they turn to and use to run. To run away from that damn search Because all it seems to do is lurch And creep and crawl, Contaminating your thoughts And never leaving you whole. I’ve been doing that search. I know how to perch Myself on that long line Of others who are also alone, Just like crows on a telephone pole. We would wait and wait Until the wind would knock two together, And these two would go and fly along Until the wind that once brought them to each other Decides to blow again and take one off track, Leaving them, yet again, to perch. But with you that fleet for another Seems to disappear Because you, well, you are that other. With you that beautiful pain From smiling and laughter Is always carried with me. Because you, well, you are that other.
