A Beautiful Scene

Large drops.
The canyon's edge.
The thing I'm scared of
is the ledge.

I do not care
about the sites
that can be seen
from great heights.

I do not dare
go anywhere near
the very thing
that sparks my fear.

Until one day
I was convinced
to fight my fear
by my friends.

They told me I'd miss
an incredible sight
if I stayed at the bottom,
overcome with fright.

So up I climbed
to the very tip-top.
Hesitant and fearful,
I almost stopped.

And then I saw an incredible view.
An amazing thing. A beautiful scene.
Mountains and valleys lined the horizon.
For it was something I had never seen

I found it absurd
that I almost skipped
a beautiful scene
that can't be missed.

This beautiful scene
made me shed my fears
of great heights
that I've had for years.

I am thankful for this beautiful scene.
For showing me sights that could make me cry
Not tears of fear, but tears of amazement.
To my fear of heights, I finally say bye.
