Beautiful Smile
Hi, I'm twenty-two
And I'm here to tell you
About the boy who has stolen my heart
He's nice--yes, he's nice
And it bears saying twice
Because that's what caught me from the start
He isn't the type
To complain or to gripe
Aggression just isn't his style
Instead, he's a boy
Who's a little bit coy
And makes friends with his beautiful smile
As far as guys go
And as far as I know
He's quite an unusual breed
He's warm and polite
Not some pompous white knight
Who goes thundering 'round on his steed
I don't know him well
That'll change, I can tell
It'll only take a little while
Though I don't know it should
It feels so good
Just to think of his beautiful smile
God, I sound like a teen
And that whole "crushing" scene
Seems like back in my days of yore
But it's both sad and true
That I am twenty-two
And I've never gone steady before
So I'll do as I've done
And think love can't be fun
And it goes in the back of my file
But that feeling gets weak
Whenever I seek
Out that face with the beautiful smile
So I just don't know how--
should I even act now?--
But I don't know if I've got the knack
To get my feelings cleared
I just find it so weird
I like someone who might like me back
I guess what all this means
Is that all of my dreams
That have sat neglected in a pile
Come back from the brink
Whenever I think
Of that boy with the beautiful smile
