Beautiful Soul

Better hair,
a prettier face,
constantly feeling out of place –
these days girls do anything not to be replaced.
All for what –
boys, friends, society?
But this issue won’t go away quietly.
Who cares what people think or say?
You have to be content with yourself at the end of the day.
What do I cherish the most?
Simple – my soul.
It shines bright like the sun
and tries to bring comfort to everyone
It stands up for kindness and justice
knowing what is right and
as the Bible says, shines the Light.
I will protect it like a mother her child
despite the times the world goes wild.
Although it might be bruised and scarred
the damage is not worthy of regard.
It is beautiful; it is confident; it is me.
It is what I desire most for the world to see.
