A passion so strong it pulls you
sitting alone can that be you too.
Alone looking in a mirror at your face
Thinking should this be my fate.
Hear the words people say to you behind closed doors
thinking is this what they really see.
Knowing, they don’t see the real you
because they never got the chance to view the real you.
Instead of being who you know you are
you go with the flow of those you wish to be like one day.
You pluck, you squeeze, try and try to fuck, but behind close doors you tease
the man you really wish to please because you know you can’t get down like that
Hoping that you’ll wake up the next day and still get that message back.
Instead you get shunned by the same people who told you they’d be down for you
walking through the hallways of a school you know you can’t survive in
see the boy you thought you loved and think… what did I do wrong?
So instead you put out
hoping this will make everything better
but 7 months later when you’re alone and tired
you’ll realize that you should have stuck to yourself
now you have a child to worry about and no father around to help you
You sit alone and cry when really what you need to do is get up and survive.
You don’t need a man to make you feel special
you need to worry about why you are special
Get an education beneficial for not only your future but your child's future
Get a job that will get you paid
and a home that your happy to go home to.
Focus on what you know is important and everything will follow
Build your confidence to the top of mountaintops
because no one should be allowed to ever make you feel small
girl you are a nubian queen, full of potential.
Not only are you beautiful but you are powerful as well
Focus on being a new kind of role model
the kind that your daughter can look up to
Or if you should have a son, be the one that teaches him how to treat a woman.
Never let him grow to be the same as the type of man you’ve grown to hate
cause if that happens then you’ve already lost.
Can’t have future repeating its self, then all your struggles were worthless.
Be an independent woman
The kind that leads by not only love but faith.
Show everyone who doubted you that you became something more than a one night show.
That way, one day, when you wake up, many years from now
you’ll know you made more of yourself than the average insecure whore.
You’re worth more than a midnight morsel to a man,
so take a stand a be the woman we know you are.
Come to the realization that you deserve to be appreciated
and the day you’ll do that your value will never be able to be depreciated.
You are beautiful inside and out
You just have to see it first.
