Beauty
I am not beautiful I am beauty
I am not attracted I am attractive
I’m the air that gets released
I’m the air that you breathe
But society only sends us plenty
That not many will show beauty
Like shooting stars falling down
But who knows when they will be found
I may have to shout at Audrey Hepburn to get her perfectionist face
I may have to scream at Marilyn Monroe to get her to do her pose that’s so mainstream, I’m so sick of it
Just to get women to deserve their beauty
That one saying, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”
What’s the beauty behind that?!
Nothing is the beholder
And nothing is the beauty that we seek within
Beauty is a gentle wheelchair holding onto an elderly
Beauty is a mother nurturing her child on a rainy day
It is not the piano but the music it makes
It is the light we see through the darkness
It is a family that shows love for one another
Beauty is the hope in heaven
Beauty is not the eyes but how the eyes perceive
Beauty is not the mouth by how the lips are used
Beauty is not the hands but how the hands are navigated;
Softly and gliding or harsh and punishing.
Beauty is not speaking hard that leads to weakness,
But kindness that holds up the weak members of society being weakened
Beauty is not the same definition for everyone
Beauty is not any of us
But let us wash our eyes with quivering salvation
