BEAUTY

Stranded on an island

all alone.

Mind gone crazy

wishing I was home.

The thing that would keep me alive is what most people need.

It's not what most would think to be important-

Not money or food or a deed.

I would need beauty.

Beauty that would light up my days and give me hope.

Stars above my head so large and bright I wouldn't need a telescope.

Birds to help incourage me along

and sing me a working-day song.

Flowers blooming feet from the sea shore.

that welcome bugs and animals galore.

Clear, warm waters that glisten in the sunset.

Long, relaxing days I will never forget.

I would choose beauty over a knife or a spoon,

Because being stranded with all this beauty,

I can pretend I'm away on my honeymoon.
