Beauty

I don’t need makeup smeared on my face,

Or brand name clothes from that one place

To know that I look good.

I don’t need to fit in a size zero

Or shed any tears o-

Ver pounds that should

Not be there. I don’t require

Tattoos or piercings to be admired.

I don’t need a superficial tan

Or high heels to stand taller.

Being pretty doesn’t mean being in style.

It means showing the world my smile

And showing off what’s inside,

Not using these things to hide.

If it were allowed by my mom,

I would were jeans and my ball cap to prom

Because I’m happy with the way I am.

Don’t like the way I look? Tell someone who gives a damn.
