Beauty

To be seen is to be heard.

To be heard is to be seen.

Finding yourself is about being seen.

I look for myself in the mirrors,

In others' voices, and in the reflection

of people. I tried different versions of myself.

Makeup, no makeup, outfit after outfit.

I got lost trying to find myself in other people,

when I needed to find myself from within.

Finding myself wasn't a moment, but it was choosing

to stay when leaving felt safer.
