Beauty

She doesn’t see the beauty looking back at her

She sees a boring, battered, beat up girl

Wondering why she was brought this face

Laced with hate and such a disgrace

She wants to be flattering

With the pretty girls at school chattering

She wants to be blabbed about by the boys

But she’s stuck in her torturing thoughts

Her brain won’t let her be the girl she was born to be

She wants to be blissful

Breathtaking like a beautiful butterfly

But she sees herself bound together by brittle bristles

Slowly breaking bit by bit

So broken beyond belief

She can’t bear to stand on her two feet

Can’t seem to find relief

Every day it just repeats

Again and again going through her head

So much stress it gives her grief

Hoping one day to meet a man that will make her believe

She is the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen

Making her matter more than any girl before

She needs to realize beauty’s only skin deep

Then maybe she can finally breathe
