The Beauty in Hardship

Distraught and Angry my heart cries out

WHY! Why am I here and what is my life all about?!

I have these emotions that just can't escape

I have all of this HATE

Maybe just once more I should cut myself and fall to the floor

How do you get over the fear of being alone

When alone is all I have known

Should I let it all out

Will it free the demon within me

My anger, my sadness, my fear of rejection

My self loathing and desire to feel pain

Pain makes it real, let me be free

I dig the knife deeper to feel again

So numb to this world

Im seeing stars...again

Then  a ray of hope

A frail old women then sits me down

She hears my words and tells me she has felt my feelings

My feelings...I scoff at the notion

That this old woman could know my emotions

At 50 she tells me she is caring for her husband

A husband that is disabled

Because he was unable to work through the pain

He tried to end his own life

And now sits in a chair and cannot think…

So with no more self pity I am able to speak

I cry out to my new saviour

Why, WHY?! Am I like this?

She smiles and says life...my dear child

Can swallow you up if you let it,

But do not try to shorten it because it's too beautiful if you just live it
