Beauty in Horror

Resting after a long day's work.

Watching t.v. with my head bobbing up and down,

The light pitter patter of rain droplets grazes against the glass window.

I glance outside to see the clouds roll in as lightning strikes across the darkening sky.

The illumination reflects off of car windows like a disco ball in the night.

I snuggle up in a ball as I gaze at the storm creeping in,

and remember what you once said to me.

Thunderstorms are a mixture of beauty and horror,

They possess components that cause death and begin new life.

Nothing contains a paradox as great as this ordinary occurrence.

Harsh winds forcing commuters to slow their drive.

Constant rainfall overpowering the wipers in motion.

Roads becoming slick and threatening.

Screeches alarm others of the horridness that has occurred.

A beauteous storm takes the life of yet another.

But, as I look into the eyes of the storm,

I watch the beauty of life begin as it passes by.

The annual spring awakening is refreshing after the prolonged darkness.

Flowers bloom to a mosaic of color.

A terrible storm creating the beauty of life.
